This Site: I started this website as a project for a computer class I has to take as a pre-requisite for another class. It was at 8:00 in the morning and I think that the teacher didn’t want to be there. I taught myself HTML. Although, please don’t ask me how to do stuff, because I’m not that good (The Computer Geeks/Gods are probably saying, "Well, Duh!" right about now!). I'm sort of an HTML pirate (Arg!) The "external links" I have provided are sites that I would use for sources on research papers. When choosing links and sites to research form I am very scrutinizing. I avoid sites that are "new age" or "witchcraft" related when searching for mythology. The sites I have provided are all reputable. The factual information not in the "Stargate sections" of the entries (i.e. History, Myth, Science, Pop Culture, etc.) are from books I have read, class notes, or reputable websites. And please, don't copy my work without giving due credit. Here’s the Normal Stuff. I’m an alumnus of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. I graduated Cum Laude (that means I had a 3.5 cumulative grade point average out of 4.0) with a Bachelor of Science in History and a minor in English/Creative Writing. I am a member of Phi Alpha Theta and a charter member of SIUE’s chapter of the Golden Key International Honor Society. At SIUE, Golden Key is by invitation only and members must rank in the top 15% of the class. I was also on the Dean’s List for 4 of my 5 semesters at SIUE. Of course, I am a huge sci-fi geek (the best kind of geek there is!). I’m a fan of Stargate (of course), Star Wars, and Star Trek (see a pattern emerging?). I also love quality sci-fi, in any form. Some of my hobbies include sketching, photography, and carpentry. I’ve been a live mannequin, been inside the Oscar Mayer Wiener-Mobile, unwisely hiked up a cinder cone, ridden live camels and elephants, and walked on stilts (pole and drywall). And, it is my dream to one day see the The World's Largest Ball of Twine. (Dream completed!!) If I have scared you, run away now. Here’s My Bag: I’m an ancient historian. My research interests are Ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, Rome, Mesoamerica, Native America, etc. Basically anything where the "civilization" is pre-pants. I am by no means an expert on any of these subjects, but I do know a lot about them. I am currently trying to teach myself Egyptian hieroglyphs. I already know how to do mathematical problems in Egyptian hieroglyphs, Mayan glyphs, and Roman numerals. While I know a lot about the history of these places I also enjoy branching out into the Anthropology and Mythology. I also enjoy learning about biological and earth sciences. I’ve worked as a free-lance photojournalist for my hometown journal (newspaper). All my stories appeared on the front page. One of them even made it to the Stltoday webpage. But alas, it is no longer there. (The gods may be immortal, but websites are not!) After suffering in retail purgatory, I have finally escaped and have gotten a real career where I languish in a cubicle.
